Berry Lefthands fifth album released on the 1st March 2019!

About The SONGS

NEWS

This is the fifth and final selection of songs written during his teenage years. You'll get 7 rocking songs, 2 pop songs, 3 ballads, 2 instrumental parts and 1 little ditty. All in all 15 popping and rocking songs!

It all started with a compact cassette recorder. Listening to all the popular bands and singers at the time, gave the longing to buy a cheap guitar. After learning the first few chords, songs began to float out the head and out of the guitar. Out of that about 150 songs were written in the teenage years, but almost none were ever recorded. Until now!

The urge to revisit these songs has been there for a long time, and different ways to do it was conceived. The original idea was to record them with just an acoustic guitar along with a vocal. But pretty soon the need to do more came along (in fact, with some overdubs a few of the early recordings have been released). So a selection of about 30 songs was made to be arranged, produced and recorded. A little bit of rewriting was done, but the main parts were left as originally written. That became the debut album “From Teen To Tin”.

After the first album was done, more and more songs came to mind, and further selections were made, recorded and released. To track these songs, was like clearing and cleaning up one’s memory.

So now here a couple of years later, the fifth and final selection “The Rest of The Lot” is here. The songs were written in the span of all the teenage years, and deals with love, politics and all kinds of observation one does in those years.

It’s still popping and it’s still rocking, even after all these years!

"The Rest Of The Lot" was released worldwide on the 1st March 2019.

1. Oh My / It's All Right

These two songs are among the first ten songs I ever have written. And as they were written on the same day, they were always meant to be a medley together. The first one is a little snobby ditty, and the second one is a full blown rock song, that will tell you that everything is all right.

2. Hear You Calling

The rain may come or the sun will stop to shine. But nothing will keep me from the fact that you'll be mine. An optimistic love song.

3. The Rest, Pt. 1

In the research for this album, I found a 90 minute cassette tape. The tape was full of ideas for new songs. I can hear that some of these were used in later songs, and a lot was not. To make the circle full, I finished one of these, and named it after the title of this album.

4. Willy Told Me

This song can be interpreted in two ways, and today I’m not sure which way is the right one. As a little tribute, I arranged it with the glam rock era in mind.

5. Sail Away

In business it can go up and it can go down. The man in this song has seen both sides.

6. Ability

This is the politician’s song. To the best of his ability, he wants to tell and show you everything.

7. Car Jungle

So if you see me someday
Walking along the road
Then please pick me up
And I´ll show you something
That has never been shown

8. Man I Said

This one is arranged over a riff, which remains me of the kind of riffs I used to jam along with. The lyric is a mix of psychedelic meets religion.

9. Avidity

There is pollution everywhere. On land, in the sea and in the air. And if we love our planet, we got to do something about now! That was true when I wrote this one as a teenager, and it is certainly more true now!

10. Girl Of Mine

This is a breakup song with a cynical twist, which fortunately ends in a good spirit and a common understanding.

11. Right Now!

This is a song to all of you who abuse others. Beware. Right Now!

12. Tell Me What Can I Do

Somehow this song makes a full circle to this whole teenage project.
When I wanted to record the song “A Feeling Inside” from the debut album, I simply couldn’t remember the original verse. I knew the chords, but the melody was gone. So I wrote a new verse to “A Feeling Inside”.
When I came to work on “Tell Me What Can I Do”, I liked the chorus, but not the verse written to that song. Destiny would have that during the research for this album, I had found an old tape with a brief recording of the original verse to “A Feeling Inside”. So I combined the verse and chorus I liked, and now have this nice ballad “Tell Me What Can I Do”. FULL CIRCLE!

13. The Rest, Pt. 2

As said in part one, this is an old idea I finally have made finished now. A while after I had recorded part 1, I wanted to make a version with a compliment to those who originally inspired me to write it.

14. I'm The Lonely Man

I don’t know how many hours I’ve spent playing along with blues-rock records, and I don’t know how many times we’ve jammed in blues-rock mode as a teenager.
I wrote this blues-rock song at a very early age. I think it is the best way to end this, and the previous four teenage albums, with a tribute to a style of music, that has given me so much pleasure and inspiration.
